Testing my design
To test my anemometer I placed it on a table outside in an exposed area.
As the wind blew the cups caught the air and started to turn.
I counted how many times the black cup did a complete rotation in 1 minute which was 6.
I then worked out how fast the wind was blowing.
Calculation
Circumference of rotating cups converted from cm to miles = 0.00066368657872
Multiplied by revolutions per minute (6) = 0.00398211947232
Multiplied by 60 = 0.2389271683392
The wind speed was 0.238 mph.
